Will look further to see if they only target visa abuse or target LEGAL workers under the schemes. It's very clear that the $100000 H1B news has backfired spectacularly. Canada, UK, Germany, China all want those international workers to come. I'm sure that some multinational companies will accelerate offshoring.

Couple catches with L1s:

Spouses can work, which is a hide difference (with H1B, unless it changed, they can’t)
I, honestly, have never met anyone who was paid home country salary. But I’m in tech, maybe it is more common in other industries.

The 100k thing was quite dumb. This legislation is not. It actually tackles the issue rather than sets a new tax. It leaves the door open to attract the best international talent while closing doors that don’t.

don't get it how you qualify on l1 while on h4 if you are in USA but if you are  in India and trying both visa options parallel , as other suggested, it is possible with great risk as now all USCIS system is interconnected including DHS/State/IRS/DOL. 

keep in mind, US tech job market is not gr8 and you guys are kind of part of issue too. looks like L1 visa is going to be terminated in approx. 6 months if not heavily reformed for obvious reason which your company is trying. If company wants to pay less, go for L1 and treat slaves. anytime u ask question ( which u will after 6 months surely), just let go. 

basically, you can come for 6 months to enjoy US life ( if you don't have to pay and your company is paying for it) if you come here on L1 and both you and your spouse can work and see this is what you plan to do for longer duration. good luck !!

At the embassy? One can simply get L2 when they go to the embassy based on approved L1. 

Yes, one can have many visa as they eligible. But, during entry they need to choose which one they plan to use &amp; meet those visa requirements when they inside the USA.

The $100K is a start, but it is not good enough.

Really, all you need is to set a lower limit for the salary of any H1B. Depending on the industry.

Set it to $200K for IT people. Set it to $300K for doctors. Set it to $150K for nurses (most nurses do not come to the US on H1B visas anyway). If you want to import plumbers, set it to $120K for them. etc.

Would eliminate most of the Indian slave mills like Tata, InfoSys, WiPro etc. almost overnight.

Revise the lower salary limits yearly.

Trump already caved on this issue. It’s not 100k per year it’s only a one time payment on the visa request. The vast majority of people are immune to the change and they didn’t restrict families coming over after the visa holders.

Moratorium on ALL H1B's for the next 10 years.  

H1B's are not highly skilled workers, they are moderate to low skilled.  Highly skilled is the "O1" visa.

I really hope so. Globalism has been the ruin of the American worker, and companies are literally cheating in the market. Free Market Capitalism literally does not work when people can cheat big like this.
